Vice Dean & Head of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology of Law Faculty of Law, Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University ---
Dr. Burçin Aydoğdu is an Associate Professor of Public Law, currently serving as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law and the Head of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology of Law (HFS) at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University. His career bridges rigorous legal scholarship with extensive administrative leadership and professional legal practice.
Dr. Aydoğdu completed his undergraduate legal education at Istanbul University Faculty of Law. He holds an LL.M. degree from Istanbul Bilgi University and earned his PhD in Public Law from Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences in 2017. Prepared under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Yasemin Işıktaç, his doctoral dissertation, titled "Grounding the Concept of Vested Rights from the Perspective of Philosophy of Law," represents the primary foundation of his academic focus on fundamental rights and justice.
Approaching law not merely as a set of abstract theories but as a living mechanism in direct contact with professional practice, Dr. Aydoğdu focuses his research on the cornerstones of legal certainty—such as Vested Rights (Kazanılmış Hak), Legitimate Expectations (Meşru Beklenti), and Established Status (Müesses Durum)—alongside high-dimension ethical and technical subjects, including Imperfect Obligations (Eksik Borç) and Pyramid/Ponzi schemes.
Legal Practice: Following his initial legal experience working alongside his father, Atty. İsmail Aydoğdu, between 1996 and 2004, he officially registered with the Istanbul Bar Association in 2004. As of 2026, following his transition to his associate professorship, he continues his legal practice under the Tekirdağ Bar Association, maintaining the family profession.
Linguistic Competency: Prior to his academic career, he worked for six years conducting sworn and consecutive translation for law firms in English. He also possesses advanced text analysis proficiency in German, Arabic, and Greek (Elence), allowing a comparative methodology rooted in historical source texts.
To deepen his research fields with an international perspective, Dr. Aydoğdu has completed specialized programs from leading global institutions:
Yale University: Constitutional Law (Grade: 82.32%)
Duke University: International Human Rights Law: Prospects and Challenges (Grade: 90.87%)
